Racism occurs everywhere and in every country. Although, the question is not about does it exist but what as the combined human race can we do about it?

At a functon when my son was little he struck up a conversaton with a little boy who was black. When asked later about who he was talking to he said the boy over there with the blue shirt. Someone commented you mean the black boy and my son said no - I said his shirt was blue. He did not see the color of his skin - he saw the shirt. He had no concept of skin color - the boy was just a boy in a blue shirt. Just one little comment from a young boy was an eye opening experience for me that I will never forget.

I believe children are like a painting - they start as a blank canvas and as they grow, they are influenced by their surroundings. But the biggest influence are the parents. I can't control everything and everyone my children are exposed to but I can bring perspective to the things that they witness. And I can do my best to not only tell them that all people are created equal but to reinforce that belief by my actions. I commend JBH, Scarlett, and others in how they have raised their children. If every parent raised their children to treat others how they themselves would like to be treated - imagine the type of world we would live in.
