We came to Qatar because hubby was specifically asked to help out with a new organization. The money is nice but certainly not why we came over. As far as living within a majority of Muslims..never really thought about it in the sense of being scared because people are people, regardless of what religion they are. My mother was terrified that I was going to get abducted, killed, blown up, whatever, but we had no qualms on that. The most misgivings I personally had, is how much I would miss my two boys who are back home.
For the most part there isn't really mockery going on here on QL but what is happening is that each region has its own sense of humor and what they think is funny. For example...Americans tend to poke fun at themselves, Brits tend to be sarcastic and poke fun in a good hearted way, at others, Canadians HAVE no sense of humor (ok you Canucks!...I'm just teasing!!) Things on here when written can take a wrong turn when people are very thin skinned and take things personally instead of the way they are meant. That's the problem with forums and even chat rooms because no one can see the smile on your face or hear the inflection in your voice.
Quite honestly speaking, if everyone would just take a much lighter hearted view of their ownselves, things wouldn't be in such a wreck on here at times.
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.
