i remember reading loads of stories in the uk of where a man kills his gf or wife because she has cheated on him, the only difference is they don't call it an honour killing.
a good example from a few weeks ago in the uk is of an old man in his 60's who killed his wife of decades after she admitted in an argument she hadnt been a virgin when they married, if the couple had been muslim they would have called it 'muslim pensioner murders wife for honour' or some crap like that.
but that doesn't justify the act itself, it is just some muslims get sick of the double standards of the media.
islam strictly condemns such behaviour, the problem is that if any muslim started trying to take action against it they would be locked up and called extremist and terrorist and such like.
