Having driven here for over 3 years the problem keeps getting worse and worse. It is not just Qatari drivers it is everyone trying to keep up with them. When a young Qatari cuts someone off in traffic that person will ensure that anyone needing to get in line has to wait. I know because I do it too. I figure if I have to wait while being cut off then the next person is going to wait for me. The big trucks seem to get it worse than drivers of SUV's or Cars. It's almost as though the Qatari's know that the truck is going to stop. God forbid they hit a Qatari, that driver might as well pack their bags, for they will probably be on their way home to their own country. As for the person who got the finger, isn't that illegal in this country?
Recently, I just drive my leisurely pace and let them beep and flash their lights at me, I just turn up my music, and adjust my mirror so I don't see them. However I am courteous when I come to a road that intersects where I am. I will usually let one car through before continuing. If everyone did that traffic would be so much easier. It's when one Driver wants to cut off everyone causing a major slowdown at every intersection. That and also when police are directing traffic, it seems to me that every time there is a police officer trying to keep traffic smooth it ends up slowing the whole process down and we wait even longer.
I think at this point I have lost the will to get mad. If I were to get mad at every person that Cuts me off or flashes their lights at me, I would be one very mad individual, and I like to smile so I try not to let it get to me, although at times it’s tough to just smile through it.
