Way back in 1979 pork was available at the meat counter at "The Center".. I was only 5 years then and we had just shifted to Qatar. The Center was the only shopping center in Doha besides Muntuza Cooperative market which is now known is Al-Meera. I don't remember well but my mother says that back then pork was available but in 1980, they passed a law saying its illegal to sell pork in Qatar.
