Welcome was the best and the oldest Indian restaurant in Qatar. It was the typical family weekend hang out where you could get delicious food at affordable prices from all parts of India.. They had south Indian snacks, North Indian curries, chaats, sweets etc.. They had opened in 1980 and we used to go there very frequently. Suddenly, one fine day, they closed down.. It was sometime in 2005.. No reason, no excuse, no explanation.. Many people have come up with different versions as to why ti was closed down but no one knows for sure.. Some people say that they were serving lunch during Ramadan.. Some say they used to server alcohol to some of their special costumers.. Some say their rivals Garden restaurant had them closed down.. But so far, no one knows the real reason..
