My first company here tried to retain my passport, and i told them "Absolutley, i have no problem if you would like to keep my passport, so long as you have a vualt and good security... Oh and you will need to get written permission from the British Embassay signed by the ambassador seeing as it is not my property, but that of Her Royal Highness Queen Lizie the Second"

Conversation ended, passport went home with me.
