From yesterday's London Sunday TImes

Vodafone:

The mobile phone group will today signal its intention to float its Qatar business next month in a transaction that could value the subsidiary at close to £1 billion.

The share sale was a condition of the mobile licence won by Vodafone in 2007 in partnership with the Qatar Foundation, a not-for-profit body set up by the emirate’s ruler.

The share sale was delayed last autumn by Qatar’s financial regulator because of the weak global stock markets.
