Well, sadly such incident is very common in Asia. Discipline & torture are very different things. Teachers must react according to the situation with their students.
Small issues can be solved by giving resonable punishments while big issues can be resolved by talking with parents & principal. Let principal handle big issues by throwing such unmannered & trouble making students from their schools/colleges.
But giving fatal punishment is not allowed at all. Teachers are also parents too so they must keep their children in their minds b4 giving harsh punishments to small innocent children who are quiet vulnerable to such punishments.
