Am I dreaming?? :)Imagine no suicide bombers, no 9/11, no 26/11, no Kashmir dispute, no Indo/Pakistan partition, no Israel/Palestine wars, no Serb/Croat/Muslim massacres, no Chechnyan rebels and no Northern Ireland troubles. Imagine no Taliban blowing up ancient statues, lashing women for showing an inch of skin, or publicly beheading innocent lives…
I strongly believe that today's religious killings and persecutions are not motivated by theological disputes. It is true that the motive is more likely to be tribal vengeance. It was one of them killed one of us. It sad when someone kills somebody, somewhere someone loses their beloved!!!
What can it mean to speak of a child's own religion? Imagine a world in which it was normal to speak of an undemanding language that an innocent child can understand….. I am sure that everyone will agree that small children are too young to know whether they are Hindu, Muslim or Christian, too young to bear the burden of such labels in their innocent hearts. Then the question comes up… Why is our entire society happy to slap a label like Catholic or Protestant, Muslim or Jew, on a tiny child? When you really go deeper and think about it, isn’t that a kind of mental child abuse?
What if your particular religion is true, you should rather say, for mutually contradictory beliefs can not all be true. Despite its smug presumptuousness, I can see how the world might take that view if they sincerely believed that they had the God-given truth!
