My child's pediatrician has left the choice to us parents as he thinks the vaccine will not be effective anyway according to him.....his advice is based on the medical history of my children those with complications should be in close touch with their respective doctors.
Many of you are equating the current swine flu vaccine to the polio and other vaccines and while these have a great record of eliminating many dangerous diseases one cannot apply that same assurance to this new vaccine for swine flu.
What concerns me is the lack of time to have this tested on a broad spectrum of people and also that mock vaccines have been used instead of the real thing as this hasnt been produced yet.......any new drug or vaccine goes thru rigorous testing for a few years to account for any side effects and are then deemed safe to be introduced into the market unlike this one which will be a rushed affair.
Anyone makes mistakes and the FDA and other bodies throughout the world have at times recalled many drugs after having initially approved of them so they could be wrong with the swine flu vaccine too for some who hold such institutions in high esteem.
As for taking the vaccine I will stick to my pedia's advice as I have a high opinion of him and as MD's rightly pointed out im ignorant and in no position to take such a call.
