It sounds to me like your cat might be looking for grass. This is natural medicine for cats and dogs and they will look for it to chew on, especially if they need to rid themselves of furballs for example. Some plants are toxic to cats too so best to offer him some grass as an alternative. You could even try to grow some in a small pot if there is nothing where you live.
