It's a bit more than that. Qatar has this pattern of bringing shiny things for showmanship trophies then stifling or suffocating them.
Only to retain the name or label, which is akin to keeping the shell while the content, much like Elvis, has left the building.....Menard comes to mind.

The Deans and the lecturers who left Education City most probably came in good faith and intention, with stars in their eyes and hopes for Qatar and found that it was nothing than a pipe dream made for the countries ego of 'I'
How wise any organization, establishment or country would be if they listened to these people and know why they want to leave, learning from them rather than recycling them just because money can afford it.
I will always sadly wonder why these Academics left Education City, while knowing that Qatar is the poorer for it. This means that Qatar's organizers will always be far from any credible Nobel prize.

Even the human rights committee in Qatar have become stooges, playing the part of a well oiled system extension and don't act in conjunction or follow the rules of the international Human rights head office. Files go missing and cases refused, with silly excuses that you are not eligible to place a claim.
I feel that this organization should have been lead by redible expatriates that come from fairer backgrounds that already have established human rights in their own countries.

I've noticed a great many threads here, which mimic the news papers, geared at emphasizing the hype of "the first time in the region" or "Qatar will do" or rather something to that effect describing Qatar as progressive.

However, the countries rush for this trophy like progress, they end up placing in charge those whom serve themselves; A detrimental move that undermines any progress or progressive investment they have or ever will make.
