Andrew I beg to differ because she isnt just pointing out the contradictions and sexism in the laws, she is calling herself a Muslim.
Now i'm sure that even you with your knowledge of Islam know that Alcohol is strickly prohibited under Islam, that Hejab is a prerequisite.
My issue with this highly incredulous post is if she is 'coming out' in so many ways, why call herself a Muslim?
Im sure she would earn your respect if she fessed up to that too? At least she would spare the locals the constant ridicule they earn when we expats see them drink.
I challenge any Muslim to come and say that they are Muslim and condone drink...Then why I ask them do they hold on to a religion that is getting so much negative publicity as it is, why not just call a spade a spade even if they're looking at one in the mirror.
Again I see this as a flimsy transparent PR stunt to back FIFA's go ahead with their 'investment bid'
By having a local come and demand drink, not just a local but a FEMALE no less, its supposed to make it acceptable once they take the plung.
They know that they have to pry the limbs of Lady Alcohol far & wide, to make sure it will accomodate the expat drink culture, otherwise their bid will be a flop, and they haven't invested in the bid nor the face time to be shamed.
Plus what better way to not let them notice the lack of infrastructure when their pissed drunk? :)
Polls are taken on Ql, or havent you noticed not one but 3 threads pushing for the FIFA WC, through them opinions tested and 3 minute accounts with bogus threads created.
But it's lame and immature...
One thing a agree with you 100% is that if laws are passed they should encompass both men and women and that these silly double standards are irradicated.
More importantly people, the fire in Soug diera and the surrounding shops is still raging since this morning. This primarily sold fabric so the fire is understandably hard to control, I hope no one died :(
NUCLEAR WEAPONS: IF AMERICA AND ISRAEL CAN HAVE THEM - THEN SO SHOULD IRAN.
