An eyewitness said the girl was crossing the busy United Nations Street where the school is located along with her mother at the end of the school day when the accident occurred.
“The mother, who was holding the child’s hand, was speaking on her mobile when a Land Cruiser ran over the girl,” the source said.
The street is generally busy as two more schools are situated in the same locality.
“A lot of blood was coming out of Dana’s ears after the car hit her,” the witness told Gulf Times.
“The mother was devastated. The motorist was an Arab in his early 20’s,” he said.
According to another source, the motorist probably did not see the child as she was walking just behind her mother as they crossed the street. The motorist has been arrested.
