I remember that when I first came to QL, anyone who made an intelligent comment was accepted immediately and would get engaged very soon. The regulars used to draw out comments from the newbies because everyone was eager to have more participants. Now I tend to feel that there is an invisible entry barrier, its less participative. Newbies get bullied so often.
Earlier I used to put in an effort to improve the quality of my contributions because something worthwhile always used to attract participation. Now I don't bother because most of the time, I feel like my comments are not even being read!
But then you see these two liner threads with no substance zooming to 200 posts in a matter of hours just cos it was started by someone who knows someone else... and then you begin to wonder if substance really matters to anyone any more...
