AlfaR said/-a-t-/Erasmus your CPU temps .../-a-t-/Erasmus your CPU temps do look a bit high and I would think you should be able to get low 30's at idle. My overclocked 920 i7 runs about high 20's at idle and low 50's under full load.
My case deosnt have the greatest air flow either with 140mm fans front and rear and 120mm fan on the CPU cooler
Might depend which thermal paste you use and how you applied it to the CPU and of course if you have AC on in the room LOL
Also worthwhile to enable the cpu Speedstep so that the CPU voltage and frequency drops at idle, this reduces temps by up to 5degC

Thanks for the tips, but I really don't think it's the thermal paste (the noctua I put on myself using a line, the h70 already had the thermal grease pre-applied (which I used - ie - didn't take it off and use my own)).

I have 5 probes in different areas of my case, and like you said, depending on the ambient temps in my room, it ranges from 23 deg - 28 deg in the case (average taken in open spaces (ie-not over the HDD)). Right now as I type, my internal case temp is showing 27.6 deg C, and the cpu is showing 40/40/43/40 deg for the 4 cores ...go figure....

high 20s for your temps is very good, considering you're getting temps even below my room temp sometimes. What are you using for cooling?

Cheers
