For a country that swears itself as an islamic country and whose heart bleeds every time there is a percieved injustice against muslims, China must make a very good friend.
"... during the reporting period the Chinese government’s repression of religious freedom intensified in some areas, including in Tibetan areas and in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. The government continues to try to limit the participation of Muslims in the Hajj and reportedly pursued the forcible return of several Uighur Muslims living abroad, some of whom had reportedly protested restrictions on the Hajj and encouraged other Muslims to pray and fast during Ramadan."
"Muslims are arrested, kept for months (or even years) in Chinese prisons, which are notorious for torture, solely because they want to live by their religion. Many of those who fight for freedom and democracy for Turkestan are executed. Moreover, China's assimilationist policies have prevented the majority Muslim population of East Turkestan from speaking their own language, living by their own culture, from going on the hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca), performing their daily ritual prayers and fasting, and even forbidden them to determine their family size."
COMMUNIST CHINA'S POLICY OF OPPRESSION IN
EAST TURKESTAN
"The CCP reportedly has issued two circulars since 1995 ordering Party members not to adhere to religious beliefs and ordering the expulsion of Party members who belong to religious organizations, whether open or clandestine"
"Muslims allegedly have been fired from government posts for praying during working hours."
"In areas where ethnic unrest has occurred, especially among the Uighurs in Xinjiang, officials continued to restrict the building of mosques and prohibited the teaching of Islam to children."
International Religious Freedom Report 2002
"Local governments in a Muslim desert region in western China have imposed strict limits on religious practices during the traditional Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which began last week, according to the Web sites of four of those governments.
The rules include prohibiting women from wearing veils and men from growing beards, as well as barring government officials from observing Ramadan. One town, Yingmaili, mandates that local officials check up on mosques at least twice a week during Ramadan."
"The Web site of the town of Yingmaili lists nine rules put in place to "maintain stability during Ramadan."
They include barring teachers and students from observing Ramadan, prohibiting retired government officials from entering mosques, and requiring men to shave off beards and women to take off veils. Mosques may not let people from outside the town stay overnight, and restaurants must maintain normal hours of business."
"The city of Artux is also preventing its teachers and students from observing Ramadan. As a result, schools have to keep serving food and water, city authorities said. As with the other governments, the overall goal is "to maintain social stability during Ramadan."
Nowhere else in the world would you see this scale of oppression, be it the 'evil' west or the infdel India. If you want further proof, find out the population stats of Muslims in China in 1936 Vs 1949 Vs 1976. yeah, China is indeed a friend to the 'Islamic' republic of Pakistan!!!! Talk about politics and bedfellows!
