I went to LuLu to buy a cordless phone and an Iron.
Cordless Phone is in the Electronics Section, and Iron was in appliances. Both are on the same floor, about 30-40 feet away from each other. I picked out a phone, and proceeded to pickup an Iron. A security guard stopped me from going into the appliances section. He said I could not take a product from electronics to appliances. This is an open-plan store, there are no signs to this effect or any such notice. It was late afternoon on a weekday. It wasnt even particularly busy. I told him to call his supervisor and continued on my way.
Security supervisor came, I explained what I was doing, he said okay fine and left.
I got my stuff and checked out, I found a manager, and expressed my unhappiness over a ridiculous policy. He said, thats the store policy bla bla bla, and actually continued to argue with me. I said it was a stupid policy and that he should tell his managment that an unhappy customer complained about this policy and maybe they should re-examine it. Would you believe it, the chap contunued to argue with me some more, and there were about 10 or 12 people at the cashiers just listening in to what was going on. A bit of entertainment for them I guess.
Now, most normal managers would explain the reason for the policy, apologise for the inconvenience and promise to improve their service for the next time I shopped.
I used to be an exclusive LuLu shopper because they had everything at fair prices, despite being horribly busy. I now go to any other supermarket first before going to LuLu.
