well, i applied that time for an accountant job and after i passed the technical test & the personal interview which was made by the finance manager, they called me later for the HR manager's interview, he was from Germany and he told me that "we know that you passed in the technical part, but now it's time to speak about ur self" so he started asking many questions like (married?, Kids?, expected salary?, visa status?, hobbies) then he moved to questions like "if u r in so & so situation what will u do?" and other philosophical type of question and finally he asked me "Where u c ur self after 5 year and in which position?" then i stupidly said "Senior Programmer" for which he was shocked to hear, he expected some answer like "chief accountant" or "accounts manager" or something from that sort to indicate that i am willing to improve myself, but since i was speaking a lot about my hobby (programming) i continued dreaming and said that i want to become a senior programmer in big companies like Microsoft or Macintosh.
and then i got to know unofficially from one friend working there that i was rejected due to my last answer.
so basically they ask this kind of questions to see if u r really interested in the field which u r in or not, therefore our answers should be prepared to satisfy their requirement.
