I was driving back from Dukhan today and saw all trucks had been stopped from driving by the police due to the sand storm. I tried to switch on my fog lights as there was zero visibility. I found out I didn't have any, problem is that so many cars do not have something as basic as a fog light to keep the cost down, also no fog in Doha, this should be a standard safety feature. You can't see the car in front until its too late.

The driving standard in Qatar is so bad and police fines or current changes in legislation do little to make people drive safely. The answer is to make every single current driver do a defensive driving course every year before allowing them to drive on the road and as soon as they arrive in the country,

Also if a traffic offense is committed instead of fining 6000 QR the person should be sent on a driving safety course. There are too many aggressive drivers that don't care if they crash as they can go out and buy another car or pay a fine. They treat the roads like racing circuits and just don't have patience. It's going to take a large accident with many deaths before the government act in the right way. They should ask the public for their opinion on how to tackle these problems. Since I came to Doha over a year ago, driving on the roads has made me a worse driver, other peoples bad aggressive driving has made me more aggressive. The traffic police need a wake-up call.
