I was asking the same thing whenever I was in Arab countries, especially HERE but then again, we are not in our country, where customer service is taught, re-taught, and taught again at our work. In fact, lol... I was hired at a hotel here a few months back, as a Training & Development Specialist to teach the staff customer service..... and how to develop Customers and keep them....but lol the Management, (i will not say what arab nationality they all are,) but as a manager, it was to painful, and emotional, and hurtful for me to sit in a daily 8am brief with these "men" trying to talk about our daily action plan, and briefs about what needs done in each dept so that the hotel & staff runs smoothly. These "men" just know how to bark like dogs running in circles, and never listen to each other to solve the problems on hand, it becomes a personal thing between them whenever a topic came up that needs solution. I had to resign after 3 weeks, i went to a Medical Clinic with swelling of my legs for 4 days and was told my bp was dangerously high... I simply can not teach western ways (customer service) in Qatar atleast, to these "people" who say they want to learn how to give 5* service and act professionally, but instead start yelling and screaming and interupting each other, then one will get angry and walk out right in the middle of a meeting...... there is not much to say about this Palmer, I do know that I have seen in some American or Brit owned restaurants and shops, you will find very poliet staff from Asian's. Customer Service is a thing of the past I guess. :(
Palmer I am sorry, welcome to QATAR......!!
