Exactly, I know that the companies that are Western owned around the world do just that. They teach their staff customer service, and hire people like me from HR background to do the training and development for the staff. IKEA is here in Qatar and will open soon, do you know before they open in other countries outside of let's say U.K or U.S.A they have to teach customer service a few weeks longer? Amazingly true. Ask yourself why?

So no matter where in the world you are, a simple smile starts the warm feeling that makes a shopping experience a nice one for yourself, and the clerk doing his/her job. Feeling appreciated works both ways. The clerks here do not get paid or appreciated enough if at all. So it starts with you and me. Remember to treat others how you yourself would want to be treated.
