Do as sraxa said and as muslims you have to keep in mind if you love islam that keeping distsnce is only solution here. Let your mother speak when you both finish the education. She can delay her marriage for another couple of years till employed and seek the permission of parents.
As a muslim religiously you can marry her and she can also do the same with you. The issue is political which will stop you and not socially/religiously.
I would have been very happy if the situation would have been between a qatari girl and a non-arab muslim boy, because it is more needed these days arab girls marry a non-arab muslim boy and bring changes in a taboos posed by arabs on non-arab muslims.
