Thank you very much for your valuable response. Yes, it was my mistake not to have come to this forum before the negotiations started. But before the phone call I was not informed that the package would be discussed so much in detail in the call. You are absolutely correct that salary and benefits of two countries cannot be compared because the cost of living and the income tax rates vary apart from other very important aspects of living in any country. I will research more and find out an appropriate range I should stick to. Thanks again for your response!

@Molten Metal - My dear friend, it is not about going up or down on a salary scale, I have been trying to move to the Gulf countries since some time now though I have been a Canadian citizen for more than ten years and my family is happily settled here. My aged mother came here and did not like Canada at all, she left and returned back to India. I must be in some place close to her. I am decided about moving to the Gulf, no questions about that. If need be I will accept a job at a much lower salary but I shall move. I have tried India and I will not try India again.
