Engine swap may be difficult as then you will need an engine of the same model. It will not be easy for you to find one. Also, if you do find one, you will not be sure of its condition keeping in view the old model of the car.
Your requirement of "upgrading" the engine is not clearly understood. Are you talking about completely overhauling the engine?
