What is the reasoning and logic behind the two year ban in Qatar? By banning personnel Qatar may be just losing qualified personnel.

before you could resign and be given an NOC (that is, if the company DOES ISSUE one) and for your visa to be transferrable. The Immigration will definitely reject any visa transfer if employment is less than 1 year EXCEPT if you got retrenched/your position was made a redundancy or you got terminated. But as I said, ALL THAT depends if the company issue an NOC or not.

For those companies who require 2 years, that would be stated in the contract you signed with them. Sometimes, this clause is stated in your OFFER LETTER or the HR personnel will tell you this during the interview or EVEN before you sign any documents with them.

As for the above mentioned question: the logic of the 2 year ban, they said this is to protect the employer.

In my opinion..this make sense, the employers will hire people from outside the country(Qatar), pay everything from plane fare, relocation expenses, visa processing and all those things. In effect, the company is INVESTING coz they need the PERSON for their company.

If that person (EMPLOYEE) leaves the company just to go to another company who offered a better/higher package, it'll be a loss to the first employer who took the time, money, effort to bring this person here. That is like a LOST INVESTMENT, so to speak.

So that the workers can experience other Countries....in the world.

Wonder if the Countries the Qataris go to study have such 2 year ban, Exit permit & Sponsorship by the College their "Sponsor" .....if they decide to change their college?

It is meant to restrict freedom of movement and freedom of choosing your place of work, because Qatar is an absolutistic 'Monarchy' and basic human rights are not available here.

Yes, that's kind of what I meant PM. Employers don't want to spend the time and money to find an employee only for them to bugger off to another company as soon as they get here.

but as far as I am aware, alot of companies have the clause as a back stop.... sometimes depending on your wasta, you can get it reduced....

I wasn't aware you had to work 2 years before you had to change sponsor. I know a couple of people who've changed after less than a year.

need to work for 2 years with your company before you can change sponsors, and this only with a NOC, as you know....

The ban only affects people whose companies won't give them an NOC.... and have to leave because of it...

It's to stop people getting any old job in Qatar, then immediately switching employers once they get here.

This is what happens if people think from their knees and not their head. There is no sane logic behind the 2 year ban, the Exit permit, the sponsorship law, the NOC, what ever else you can think off.. its simply insane !!
