authenticated visa requirement in cebu

To all Pinoy QL'ers,

Is it true that in Cebu Int'l Airport, they do not require medical exam/ visa authentication to travel to Doha by Business Visa? They only need the letter of invitation in lieu of the med exam/visa authentication?

Tummyfire, what was the kind of visa used by your friend? Is it also visit visa? If that is the case, who sponsored her? Coz my friend wants to get a visit visa for me but I think it is banned for Filipinos without first degree relations there. Please help me with this coz I really want to go there in September. I already filed my vacation and it was approved, and I want to spend it there in Doha to see old friends again. I used to work in Doha Clinic Hospital and I want to visit my friends there.

3 months visa = business visa (Still available but cannot be extended. Exit is to country of origin on passport)

28 days visa = tourist or ordinary visit visa (still available but cannot be extended. Exit is to country of origin on passport)

family visit visa = initial is one month but can be extended up to six months (but need to have medical exam at the medical commission to be granted extension). It can be processed to an RP for immediate family (spouse and children).

In the Philippines, the above visas do not need medical certificate. But all need to be authenticated by Qatar Embassy in Manila (via DHL), also you need to present a two-way ticket (return ticket).

Work visa will need medical certificate, visa authentication letter, POEA docs, signed contract and OEC presented when you pass through immigration counter in Manila for first timers. For old timers you need your OEC.

So you need to check what type of visa you are issued.

Kabayan, I worked in Qatar since 2006 and left last April this year and I'm presently in Oman now. Since 2007, I took 2 sisters, 2 brothers and 7 of my cousins, Since taga Leyte kami, so sa Mactan International Airport ang entry namin to Doha...not being asked talaga sa Immigration ang Medical but I advised them all to be prepared, anyway 2,000 pesos lang naman ang gastusin for Medical so not much if you compare na ma-stranded ka if denied di ba.I took 3 cousins on April 3 two weeks before I left Doha.

My question now for all of you...as far as I know kasi wala na daw 3 months visa ngayon...28 days na lang, not renewable pa...meron pa ba kayong alam na 3 mos Visa? can u give me the details...balak ko kasing papuntahin asawa ko dyan para makuha niya ako uli sa Qatar... Oman is great but my heart belongs to Qatar...huhuhu, under ban kasi ako ngayon, nagresign ako from QatarSteel...hope

u can help me with this issue.

I'm from cebu also. I had bad experience way back August 2007. I was on business visit visa and had my visa authenticated in the muslim affairs.Sadly i was with the my husband's uncle and we have the same visa. We bought it from the same agency. Everything was seemed to be ok and i was already admitted in the immigration counter and stamped my passport w/o looking at my papers but my husband's uncle went to the same counter just after me and the old woman who approved mine noticed that he's on business visit visa. Then she said "oh u're on business visit visa.she called me back and checked my docs and asked me about "affidavit of support" and that do i know someone from Qatar. I was shocked. She took my passport back and stamped cancelled. She was asking this affidavit of support from any relatives in qatar. I'm confused when i'm on business visit visa- sponsored by a company. Good thing was my brother in law was working in the airport. I couldn't provide her with this dox so i called my husband and they were shocked also. that was an hour b4 my flight. The checkout all our luggages. Someone told me they need "money" but i dont want to give even a cent. She told me that to ask my husband to prepare a handwritten affidavit of support and fax to cebu. When it arrived they admitted us again. Just weird the name found on the affidavit was only mine but my husband's uncle was able to fly.see the inconsistencies.

I'm coming on a business visa but I don't know how long I will stay. That's why I'm booking a one way and will purchase the return ticket which I decide to come back? What should I do or is there any way around this?

I'm coming from the states to Doha. Commercial fight from home to Washington DC and then Qatar airways from there to Doha.

Suggestions?

Please note of the latest news is that business visas (3 months) and tourist visas (28 days) can no longer be extended.

Exit has to be back to the country of origin (based on passport)

As to your question, for business visa (even visit visa) medical exam is no longer required. However, it has to be authenticated by Qatar Embassy in Manila. It takes one week to have the visa authenticated. You have to send it via DHL. (BTW, not all DHL outlets have the visa authentication service) Business / visit visas also require a return ticket. One-way ticket is not accepted.

What do you mean by the visa being authenticated? What all is required to come to doha on a business visa from the United States?

and one thing more.. i actually asked the embassy why i was denied entry when i have the visa and ticket.. they told me that they have to put my name on the system especially that there are those who come on business visa and stay longer in Qatar than they should and then reports abuse to the embassy.. its probably for security reasons...

the travel agency and qatar airways has no connection whatsoever with the immigration people at cebu. my ticket and visa was check by the qatar airways agent and im good to go but was denied by the immigration people. travel agency and qatar airways would always allow you to fly.. they dont have any problems with it, they are there to book you ticket and check your ticket and visa if it is really true besides you cant buy a plane ticket without the visa.. the last decision lies on the hands of the immigration people at the airport after they check your credentials. if they dont allow you to enter beyond their point, you cant do anything.. this was what happened to me, one step more then i could have been in the entrance area. if there are those people who were able to enter without their visas authenticated then they must have done something else. i was actually told by my sponsor before i had my visa authenticated to "maglagay dw" but i did not so that was what happened to me. im not really quite sure about the last sentence that if i should have done it then i could have gone a month earlier here... it took me a month more to process the authetication since i had to do medical exams and DHL mail it to Manila.... again if there has been changes with the rules check with the embassy but still i doubt it that they really changed it. siguro my mga milagrong nangyayari lang.. i speaking from my experience.... :p

AtoZ,

An info just trickled in from a travel agency in cebu that med exam/ visa authentication from qatar embassy is not required now in Cebu Intl Airport.

I am just trying to get more recent info as I am about to bring a 1st-time overseas worker and I want him to come here quickly w/o hassles.

Thanks for any latest input in this issue.

hey man you don't wanna be held up by the immigration people at the airport.. sad to say i was one of them.. my luggage was on the plane already but i was denied entry because i didnt have the visa authenticated.. and for you to have your visa authenticated you must submit it to the Qatar Embassy Manila (since we dont have the embassy in Cebu) and the requirements of the embassy are original passport and medical certificate.. so you have to go through the medical exams, they are too afraid that you will spread a virus here in qatar (joke.. :p).. if you are from cebu call the embassy in manila and ask to which medical center do you need to take the medical exams.. i did all of these i just forgot the name of the medical center.. and this happened to me september of last year, if they changed the rules now better call the embassy to verify. i think they are doing this to stop human trafficking (the immigration people told me this before) even you are on business visa you must do all these... and yep im from cebu and i came here on business visa..

That was before, but now based on my roommate who have just came from pinas, visa authentication must be done in Qatar Embassy Manila, before Muslim affairs in Cebu are authorized and that also be accepted in airport in Cebu however its no longer now (MA) authorized. medical is no longer required for business visa even either which airport you will pass in pinas.

its true, 101 percent true. I know because im from Cebu.
