British Passport Holders - Renewal
By Deleerious •
Hi all,
I sent my passport off last week as it expires in Sept 2016, imagine my surprise when a week later I receive the old one, and the new one!
I have 2 trips planned on the old passport which is still valid until Sept this year. Am I ok to still use this one even though it has a small piece cut from the corner. The details of this one are on my RP. I will be sure to change my RP to the new passport when I have completed these 2 trips.
I'm sure all will be well but i don't want to turn up to the airport and be told that my old passport is now no longer valid and the new one doesn't match my RP.
Thoughts?
Thanks all for the advice, as my first trip isn't for 3 weeks I've decided to get my RP changed to my new passport. I'll update my flight information with the new passport info and all will be well.
I just know with this place that i'll get to immigration and there will be an issue. May as well do it right if I have the time.
Carry both together
Ok thanks. As I say I'm sure I can't be the only one who has been in this situation. Just worried about coming back in... oh well, we'll see!
Just explain and you should be ok
You should be ok to travel with both , but may face a little hassle on your return
BE - my flights out and back are booked on my old passport details though as this is valid until Sept 2016. Shall I change the bookings to the new passport and use that but use the exit visa from my old passport? Confused.com.
Carry both. Your old passport is no longer valid but it has the details of your RP etc
You need to get the details transferred to your new passport for ease of use
I was planning on taking both but imagined I wouldn't be the first person in this position. There's long enough on the valid one to get back to Doha and change my RP to the new one before I travel again.
You should carry both with you. You can't use the old one on it's own - if it has the cut on the corner it won't be accepted. However, you'll probably need it if it contains your RP. In short best to carry both.
