Business Visa

Hello everybody,

I've worked in Qatar in 2011 for 6 months. I first got there with a Business Visa in just 1 week. My Residence Permit was issued quickly etc. I resigned from my old company in order to attend an MSc course in the UK. They gave me an NOC in case I wanted to return to the country.

A month ago I got an offer from a big multinational consultancy and I signed the contract. Two weeks ago they applied for a Business Visa in order to get me there faster. Today they told me the Visa was rejected for unknown reasons.

I am a single European female engineer, but I don't think this may have caused the problem. Do you have any ideas?

Most importantly, if an appeal is submitted, do you know how long will it take to go through?

Any answers will be much appreciated

Thank you vpkumar.

This is what they are doing right now actually. They have applied for female quota first and if it goes through they will apply for the work permit.

Do you know how long this process takes approximately?

Thank you

Ask you new company to apply for work visa with noc, that might be the best option

It is the Business Visa that got rejected though, so normally the quota wouldn't matter (???). Of course as the Business visa is a very common company procedure to get employees in Qatar before applying for a Work permit, maybe the Ministry decided that this cannot happen prior to the company securing a quota first...

work visa cannot be rejected, if a company has a quota for you. It looks like a Quota for "Greek Female" has been rejected. NOC has nothing to do with that. They even hasn't reached the point where your NOC is required.

And it also has nothing to do with you working for 6 months only. It's all about a quota.

Another question. I have read somewhere that it is required to work for 2 years with the previous company before transferring the sponsorship to the new one, even having a NOC. I have only worked for 6 months. Could that be the issue? However, it was mentioned that since you get out of the country, then you can apply for a new work visa with the new company + the NOC and all is good...

Thank you all for your replies!

Apparently it is a gender issue then... I have friends in Qatar who have told me the situation with female visas is stricter than a year ago.

Do you have any idea what should be the next step? Appeal? Apply for a work visa directly? Get there with a tourist one and re-apply? The company I got the offer from will look into it but I would like to know what is the norm in similar situations as I want to know what to expect...

female business visa is more likely to be rejected than male business visa.

our company has been in this situation for quite several times.

for one, immigration regulates more the issuance of female visa according to our PRO.

They did apply with the NOC. Or at least so they said. They got the original NOC from my previous company before applying for the visa. All documentation was checked before the application and I was re-assured by the company that they had everything they needed...

If you had an RP stamped in your passport from your previous company then you have a restriction to enter on any other company visa . Unless the new company apply with the NOC from your previous sponser ......
