Can we request for a change of residency visa to a visit visa?
my husband got a family status job there in qatar. he applied for a family resident visa (me and my 2kidz) which is approved and have it as of now . i proceed to the accredited clinic in manila to secure my medical which is a requirement for a resident visa before stamping. after a week, i got the result which is 'unfit' due to a +hepatitis b. the president of the medcal clinic advice me that if i want to go Qatar, its better daw to secure nalang visit visa which does not require any medical. but since we have now the visa -- stated the purpose is VISIT and visit type as RESIDENCY VISa, I want to know if i can use this visa i have for a visit visa nalang if possible? or need to request for a change from residency to a visit one? or just wait until the existing visa becomes invalid then apply for one nalang later?
another question is... if i pass the passport for stamping na with the embassy together wth the not fit result on medical, possible po kaya mastamped ito or ma disapprove lang?
please help me clear everything.. need your advice.. thank you
So things might have changed since 2006! I was on a family visit visa with my son that time and medical exam was required then even for a visit visa. From visit visa we had a permanent family visa and yes, medical exam here is duly required prior to issuance of resident permit. I agree that it is best not to submit the medical report with "unfit to travel" as it could only aggravate any chance of coming here.
As to my knowledge medical certificate is not required by Qatar embassy for family visit visa, My brother has recently sponsor his wife on family visit visa for 6 months and no medical certificate was ask by Qatar Embassy in the Philippines, only here in Qatar that medical is required if you stays more than one month.
Don't try sending your visa together with your "unfit" medical to the embassy, surely it will be disapprove, they are very strict with medical...wait for another 3 months till such time your problem with your health will be cured.
Again hope it helps you...
If your medical can't be cure for at least sometime its better to let your residecy visa expires (validity 3 months from date of issue)and let your husband apply again for a family visa for 6 months at least there's no need for you to have medical at our place.
Hope you got something from our advise..
regards there...
Hi there...your case is same as mine ,I got my residence visa for my family (daugther and wife),and same as yours, medical certificate is required by Qatar embassy for visa stamping, as my wife was told by DHL representative,Since the resident visa is ready,My wife has no choice but to subject themselves for medical. (still awaiting for the results of their medical).
Now, don't confused yourself with your question "purpose of visa" visit..remember that the visa at your hand is residency visit visa (5 years duration)it means that validity is 5 years, you can go back and forth from phil to qatar anytime without restriction.

As per my experience when i first came here under Visit Visa, i still underwent a medical exam as required by Qatar. This medical exam report is to be submitted in qatar embassy there. So i guess that even if you opt for only a visit visa you might still not be allowed given the negative result in the medical exam. If you can contact qatar embassy for further clarifications then i suggest that you do it before doing anything else. Goodluck to you & your family.
