Change profession name and transfer of visa
Good morning to all! I would like to ask regarding visa.
I am currently here in Doha under Family visit visa. My husband is working out to transfer my visa his sponsorship. But he need to change first his profession name in his visa before proceeding to visa transfer.
My question is how long it will take to change the profession name? As it is already in 3rd month now and yet their mandoop is still telling him that it is still in the process.
My working visa was cancelled last February 2009. My profession name in the visa indicated Physical Instructor. If ever I will find a company which will sponsor a visa for me, it is possible that we can transfer the visa with a different profession name?
I heard that Labor Dept. is considering any circumstances if the visa is already expired for more than 6 months.
Or do I still need to get a NOC to my previous employer?
I will really appreciate your advices... More power to you all...
Am on a work visa designation Administrative supervisor,I have resident permit actively seeking for job , I got this offer and they have said I must transfer to security guard am not willing to loose my designation because I intended to go for driving school in favor of the designation am confused Kindly advise

hi, tnx for your reply. Honestly, Im a bit confused. Let me clarify to you my concerns:
1st: the profession name change is my husband's situation. He need to do it first before he could change my visa under his sponsorship. Now, as you mentioned, it is really not acceptable that it took 3 months now waiting for the profession change.
2nd: after the cancellation of my visa last feb. 2009, i went back to my home country and spend 7 months to come back again here. I came back here last sept 2009 under family visit visa (currently im just stay-at-home mom) and still waiting and hoping that we could transfer my visa to my husband's sponsorship.
Note: I have 2 kids both were born here in Doha so we do not have problem regarding their visa as they are automatically sponsored by my husband.
3rd: Now, I only have 2 months to stay here, so Im thinking I should do something so i could not go back to our home country. So, im planning to find a job or company who can give me sponsorship before my visa expire. My concern is as I mentioned earlier, my profession name to my cancelled visa was Physical Instructor. Since it is cancelled for more than 6 months, Is it possible that we could change it to a different visa with a different profession name (e.g. secretary, etc.)?
4th: Or do i still need to ask for a NOC to my previous employer so I could transfer it to other employer?
Sorry for the long reply. I just want things to be clarified. I am really confused and it gives me a headache.
Tnx again...
Hi Chermangel,
I understand that you are on family visit visa and you were working with a company that accepted you on this visa...this is quite common even though it is illegal to do so.
You need an NOC from your previous employer only if you had a work permit from them (for ladies), otherwise all you have to do is to inform them about your resignation.
Change of profession should not take more than two weeks including approvals from labour department. Three months is unacceptable...I know people who have gone through this...but you need to be ask your mandoop repeatedly and confirm the same.
Its always better to pay a visit to the Labour dept along with your Mandoop. You never know....your application may not be even submitted....You need to ask for proof of receipt if it had been submitted from your Mandoop.
Staying here more than 9 months without a proper visa (I understand your working visa is cancelled) is illegal. Once your visa is cancelled. as per the rules I am aware of, you cannot enter Qatar for a minimum of 2 years.
You can transfer visa to another company with a profession change (you need to get your certificates attested from your home country) which takes time...there are agents who can do it for you within short period of time...but they charge you quite high.
It is not clear from your statement whether you have a work permit or on husbands sponsorship....if you have a work permit, you need to get an NOC from your previous employer. If you are husband's visa, your husband could give a NOC to the new employer for a new work permit.
If your visa is cancelled (as you have stated in Feb 2009), I doubt if something could be done......
