Conflicting Information On Medical Tests
Dear All,
I must confess that I am totally confused now with regards to required medical tests and the implications of positive test results. I have read many conversation threads some from as far back as 2007/8 and it is almost impossible to find a straightforward answer to:
If I test positive for Hep B, will I get a visa to work in Qatar?
Does anyone here have a positive Hep B test result and still able to get a visa?
Does anyone here with a Positive Hep B result work for Qatar Foundation? Please share your experiences.
I will really appreciate a straight forward answer with evidence.
thanks you both. Well I checked on QF's website and their guide for expartriates clearly states that if you test positive for Hep B, your visa will be rejected. It does not say anything about industries (e.g. food), nor does it say anything about whether you are infectious or not. Should I take that to mean NO alternatives at all?
Not all carriers of Hep B are contagious since there's a specific count of virus before it can infect somebody else, at least that's the explanation of the doctor. But just a question, is it really part of the medical test package for all expats here at Qatar? I'm just thinking, maybe it's only required to expats who are in the food handling businesses. On the other hand, regarding the blood type, it's really totally different here, because back in my country I've been donating blood, and I am B+ and so far didn't hear any complaints that I have a different blood type, but when my medical results were released, I am surprised that my blood type here in Qatar is O+, maybe the weather changed my blood type LOL
I dont think so, Hepatitis B is an infectious illness which causes inflammation. they will not accept you. In response to your statement that there are conflicting results yes it is true, when i was child around 8th standard class, hospital issued a report saying i have A+ blood group.... but later on when i tested my own blood in lab during my studies, it was O+... i did it many times. Maybe it changed when i grewup :) Cannot trust with the lab tests here.
