Being a resident at Qatar, do we need a visa to enter UAE - Dubai.
I'm from Tunisia and I'm planning to go for a week end there, should I go through the normal process to get a visit visa (consulate?)

u can buy TRANSIT VISA at DUBAI IMMIGRATION in the any UAE AIRPORT OR BOARDER.

transit visa is valid for 14 days and cost around 400AED (not sure if the price increased)

you can also call any travel agency, for TOURIST VISA which is good for 60 days and cost around 1500EAD, tourist visa need sponsor... so you need to call travel agency

Abid shah.... Immigration officers are looking on the RP only. What ever mentioned on the RP, that is your profession

you can obtain dubai visa upon arrival in their airport. since you are engineer, they will grant you a 14 days or a month of stay in dubai. if i am not wrong the visa in dubai only cost of 80 dirhams or equivalent to 80 qatari riyals too.

i've been there in dubai last eid holiday (1st week of oct. 08), my wife and i stayed in dubai for 4 days and we obtained our visit visa in the dubai airport when we arrived there and my profession is Engineer in one of reputed contracting company here in doha.

Being an Engineer is sufficient to obtain a visa from the border line, but u have to apply for KSA visa if u r planning to travel by car.

Mechanical Engineer would be sufficient to grant me a visa for me and my family 'on arrival'?

U can get visa "on arrival" basis, but it purely depends on the PROFESSION shown in ur RP.
