dear all,

somebody give me the correct picture.

I'll narate my things down here. OK i am a civil engineer who belongs to India and was working in Oman for the last 8 years. I am now here in qatar working for a german company. When the negotiations were going on my first priority was to have my wife together with me. I had asked the officials regarding that and they answered if at all my wife has to be with me I myself has to sponsor and that can take place within two weeks of my RP being getting ready. ok well and good I agreed for that and I came here on 1st Agust. MyRP was ready by 19th August 2009.

After that my PRO told that he shall take a tourist visa for my wife and bring her in and then can be converted to RP. well and good and I said yes with the confirmation that if something goes wrong the visa could be extended for one more month. she joined me on the 26th of August 2009.

Now when the time has come for taking RP my PRO says now the rule has changed and I need my marraige certificate and education certificate to be ratified by Ministry of foreign affairs, New delhi. It was a surpise for me because after repeating my questions whether I had to do these all things in the begining, my company officials were damn confident of saying a NO. Now as this is the situation I send my certificate thru UROGULF who told that it will take minimum 10-15 days to get it back .it really cost me a fortune.

sure , it may take its own time. I was rather releived at this point as somethings were working. But today I got my shock when my PRO came to me saying that the tourist visa cannot be extended and she has to exit the country and after that RP for her shall take two weeks. This is also is a sudden change of rule it seems.

After all why does this happen all the time?.

Now I am totaly in no mans land as of what to do next. I heard that 6 months bank statement is also a prerequisite which my PRO NOW says is not needed.

I really need somebody who knows things very clearly to help me out.
thanks in advance.

Dear Friend;

I understand that this is truly the mistake of your PRO; which you may notify/complain to your higher authorities in order not to repeat such from that gentleman. Follow the guidelines given by other friends here. Don't worry, be happy. Yours is not only the first incident of this subject.Hope things will get recovered soon. Good luck, enjoy some time without family !!!

Let me tell you that Tourist Visas cannot be extended and your wife have to leave the country no matter how hard you tried. They should have brought her on a family visit visa which can be extended up to 6 month. same happened with my Wife for the visit visa.

Welcome to Doha, the land of no one knows what he is doing and how things work here. Thank god i am leaving in 2 days....

Attested marriage certificate is always required and your PRO is a ediot and trying to make you fool. The rules are always the same. make a complaint against him and press your boss who is responsible for it. let him pay for the travel cost. nyways she will need to exit. However tourist visa take 3 days for your info.

Enjoy independence days without wife.....

Firstly, it's not a new rule. Your PRO has no knowledge of the procedure, and this is the reason it caused you all this trouble. Secondly, your PRO could've applied for a FAMILY VISIT visa, instead of the regular tourist visa. Family Visit can be extended up to 6 months maximum. Lastly, in order for you to sponsor your wife, all the requirements he mentioned to you is A MUST and be submitted to Ministry of Labor. It's not a new rule...it's been the rule since last year. You can send your wife home and apply for a family visit. While applying for that, she can then process all the required papers in your country. Then she can come back again with you and stay with you for 6 months, until you have the 6 months bank statement ready to show the ministry.

Just my 2 cents.
