Exit permit

Folks

I am coming to Doha and will be sponsored by my employer.

Question 1: Does the employer keep the passport with him once we arrive?

Question 2: Do we need an exit reentry permit every time we want to go on vacation?

Please provide any helpful information.

Thx,

@ glecs.

yup, they dont. I believe only Saudi and Qatar does it :( . That sucks

BUt in terms of keeping their passport, its illegal. normally a big company doesnt do it. its mortal sin to give up your passport.

they will ask for it during your residency stamping, but after you got your residency, it should be on your hands already.

it depends on the company whether they want to keep the passport or not. it is against the law but a normal practice here. even my own company does.

exit permit is obtained by all expats to go out of doha.

but... is it true that other GCC nationals (bahraini, emirati, etc.) dont need exit permit?

I am not sure about the employers keeping the passport, I guess they dont.  But exit permit is required when ever you want to leave the country for whatever reason.
