Form of oath any Brits out there ?

We have just arrived and as part of my husbands visa processed they are asking for a police clearance check, well the UK no longer issue them, so they say he needs to do a sworn oath and sworn affirmation, the British embassy website gives a sample form as they don't offer an official one but it does not say what he has to fill in to say he is swearing his oath too? I have emailed the embassy as you cant call them, but was hoping somebody on here might be able to advise us.

TIA

UK still offers police certs as I had to do this a couple of months ago

Log on to http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx and fill in the form. You can then ask them to send it on to an attestation company. I used http://www.argentum-llc.com/ who were very efficient and knowledgeable although not cheap. They will then take it to the Qatari embassy and a solicitor in London to attset it before sending it on to you here.

The acro website is definitely better than approaching your local police station as the service you get at the latter will depend on who you speak to whereas the police website has defined timescales.

firstly you can call the embassy and they will assist with what you need to do, you take the sample, basically write like that but including that you have (or your husband has been involved in no criminal activities)

then follow below and it will be sorted I did it in one day

1. Prepare your oath or affirmation in advance and bring it with your original passport and proof of address (a tenancy agreement or confirmation of address letter from your sponsor) to the Consular Section.

New Consular Opening Hours:

Sunday

11.00 - 14.00

10.00 - 13.00 (During the Holy Month of Ramadan Only)

Monday - Thursday

08.00 - 11.00

2. Take your signed oath or affirmation to the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Department to be attested. The MFA is located on the C Ring Road, next to the Audi/VW garage, close to the Gulf Cinema Signal.

3. Finally, take your oath or affirmation with, 3 passport photographs, to the Criminal Evidence and Information Department (CEID) who will generate the Police Clearance Report for you. CEID is located on Salwa Road (straight over last roundabout towards Industrial Area, slip road to right and follow the signs).

We went to the local police station and they arranged for it to be done and we received it in the post a few days later at our UK address...

We needed the Police Clearance Check for my wife last month.

After doing some research we found this http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/what-is-disclosure/

They may be able to post it to Qatar. We got it posted to our family address in UK and then to here!

Good Luck

Really UK no Longer issues Police Clearance. That New. I am sure that if you have a criminal record with the Crown Prosecution service they will let you know if you dont have any criminal record they will also advise you via a letter.

Now regarding the sworn oath form. I am not familiar with and again its the Embassy that can advise you on that. You can just go the Embassy rather than trying to call or contact them via email.

Hope it works but please do come and post on this thread or in the group British Group for the benefit of other British expats.
