Getting my family to Qatar

Hi all,

I got married in Mumbai, india in Dec-2006 and have a year old daughter. I arrived in Qatar almost 6 months ago and have started to work and am looking forward to get my family here. I have a couple of questions.
(a) My wife holds a passport in her maiden name, can she travel on the same passport or does she have to change names etc etc, all these formalities takes such a long time back in India...my daughter has a passport.
(b) We got married in a church and the church issued us a marriage certificate as is the procedure ( it contains my wife's maiden name and my name, the date of marriage, witnesses etc..
we did not register our marriage in the courts as yet.
what i want to know is, is this church certificate enough proof if i get it attested ( the original copy ) from the indian embassy in doha, for my wife and daughter's visas?? or will the authorities here insist on a court certificate of marriage (attested)?

All advise and assistance will be appreciated
Thanks.

It is nothing to worry about the maiden name , given name etc. make sure the name shown in passport & marriage certificate is same.

get it attested from Indian emmbassy! in Qatar. (Get attested form any Notary from India too)

You can bring your family here eventhough your wife uses her maiden name (I too use my maiden name), as long as you have certificate of marriage showing the name of your wife and of course yours also. If the church marriage certificate is attested in your Embassy, I think its ok. But still, please double check with your L.O.

If the company is the one to process everything, they will tell you all the requirements.

All the best in your plans....

a. She can travel.

b. I am not sure. Check with your PRO. In my case (when I was in UAE), I had to get it attested from a Notary, then from UAE embassy in Mumbai and translated into Arabic by a legal translator
