Hi,

I need someone that the clarify me with my query..

It is possible to request for an NOC after a one year of service eventhogh my contract is two years.

I am a local hire here in qatar as tourist visa. I was hired by an agency company, so my sponsorship now was under them, now I'll be one year this coming november and I am planing to apply to another company for a direct hire, for a better future. It is possible that my company will release me..?

Please I need someone's opinion and expertise about qatar labor law

Wow this post was 4 years ago and just today I had the time to reply. Thank you all for your comments/opinions, not only I finish my 1 year in the company but I finish 4 straight years. And just recently I was absorb/direct hired by the company I am working with. Its worth the wait :)

Better to continue your 2 years contract then you can try later.Your sponsor might be irritated/angry which will results to cancel your visa and send back home if you will try now since you have two years contract with them. Moreover, they will not even consider that you are local hire they treated that as the same overseas/local. based on personal experience. We have no choice than to enjoy the seamless slavery in the country.

it's not about only NOC. Even if your current company released you, the Government most likely will reject transfor of sponsorship, since you stay with your sponsor for only 1 year, while the rule is 2 years with the same sponsor.

Bear in mind that it's a common practice here that if you resign they will not give you release but if they finished your contract they will give you. Be patient before making the right move. You haven't finish complete one year and I think immigration rules require you 2 years of work before you can transfer sponsorship. At the moment you're lucky because you have a job. Others like you tried also but they don't have luck like you.

but don't hope too much to be granted.  No harm in trying!
