Calling all country fellowmen who still holding an Old Green Philippine Passport and have an experience to go on Vacation to Phils. Kindly share your experience and Clarify the below points, I'm about to go to Embassy for concrete details.

1. My Green Passport will expire on May 20, 2012 and I have scheduled vacation on April 1, is it possible to renew now and possible to finish before April 1.

2. Is the Green Passport still Valid, some says you will not able to come back Doha with this type of Passport.

For those who have the same experience, your professional advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Kabayan.

My passport got expired April 2012, but i haven't renewed it yet because of financial issues and my company wont let me have my cash advance. But any day this week I will renew my passport. My question, Do i have to pay something like a penalty for late renewal of my passport?

as she could not travel in Decemeber if they see that the passport she is holding will expire in a month time.

Better yet, visit the embassy and tell the situation to them. If they allowed it, then proceed.

The green passport will still be allowed until it is stamped renewed or invalid. As parents, you can also receive the e-passport if ever it's released here. You can send it to your child via any courier so it can be use in future travel. Just make sure that the green passport is present as the visa is stamped on it.

Good day to all kabayans,

My daugther's passport is expiring on Jan. 22, 2013. She is studying in Manila and is now here in Doha for a short vacation and going back to Manila on the 13th of June 2012. I want to renew her passport here in the Philippine Embassy before she goes back to Manila. She is considered a minor because she will turn 18 only in Sept 2012. If I apply an e-passport for her now, she can only sign it when she comes back in December for another short vacation. Will she be allowed to travel out of the Philippines considering her passport is expiring on Jan 22, 2013 but the renewed passport is waiting for her here in Doha? I want to renew her passport here because of too much hazzle if she renew it in the Philippines and considering she is still a minor with both parents here in Doha. Can you please give us the best advice.

@flor1212 - Thank goodness! if it just a PLAIN rumor... ;p

back to TS, if I am not mistaken, the 6 months policy is only for those who are traveling as a tourist.

It would be best if you renew your passport now, it will only take maximum of 2 months for you to be able to get back your new brown passport. Sometimes they are a bit fast, you can get it within a month. :)

Your passport should be at least 6 months valid to travel. If you are traveling in April and the expiry date of your passport is in May, you will definitely have problems. Renew your passport here at the Philippine Embassy. I just renewed mine and it only took me less than a month to receive it. The cost is QAR 240. Good luck:)

the last time they told me to renew my passport 6 months before expiration its better to renew it in Doha than in Manila because Manila will cost you a lot and waste more time and they process by schedule it will take you around three months and ur vacation is not enough to processed it rather than paying rush renewal if you know what i mean

about the people at NAIA. That is PLAIN rumor and it's bad to spread such!

To the OP, renew your passport not because of anything else but because it is expiring!

My green passport expires on 2-May 2012. I just came from a one week vacation in the Philippines during the Christmas holidays without any hassle in the our immigration at NAIA.

I'm still having a green passport with expiration end of this year and been using it every vacation but in your case with less than 6 months validity I suggest you renew it now the minimum processing is 45 days and if you did not get it on time you can still ask for passport validity extension at our embassy. You can check here for renewal procedure and download application form.

Renew it now if you are planning to take your vacation by April. It will take at most 2 months to receive your new passport.

Do not take chances to travel with your old passport. They will allow you, but some people (in NAIA) will put pressure on you until you give them some cash :)
