HELP! tourist visa to a family visit visa?

I have been working in Doha since the start of October, and now have my RP. My wife came over mid-October on a tourist visa, which we extended for one month in November.

I am still waiting for my work to provide me with a letter stating that I can have a family visa for my wife, so that I can apply for her visa. The letter has still not arrived yet, so I cannot get my wife a family visa yet - and her tourist visa expires in 2 days time.

I went to the visa section beside the airport, and they told us that as she has been here for 2 months, it cannot be extended any longer (We are both UK citizens). They said that she will now have to leave the country, and then come back to get another tourist visa.

Is there nothing else that can be done? Is it possible to get her a family visit visa? If so, what would we need to do to get that? How do we get one, and would we be able to get it before her visa runs out?

Or would she be able to get a business visa or something, valid for 3 months?

What would happen if she stayed in the country after her tourist visa expires? Someone told me that it would be a fine of 200riyals per day (which would be cheaper than paying for a return flight to Dubai if we managed to get my work to sort the family visa within a week or so)

Any help or information would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

gretna

Thanks everyone for your help - one last question! Do you know where the fine needs to be paid as she will be 2 days past her visa expiry date - is it just at the airport as she leaves or will she need to go somewhere else to pay for it?

thank you all for your help and advice - its much appreciated. I am meeting someone from work tomorrow with all my documents to see if they can get her family visa processed with urgency. Failing that, she will have to fly out to Dubai for a few hours, and just pay a days fine of 200riyals i guess.

Thanks

Unless you know how long your company will take, it will be cheaper to do a return trip on FlyDubai and then have another chance to get the papers sorted.

1st - Yes you will pay 200 QR for everyday delay

2nd - To apply for a family visit visa you need the following :

- Marriage certificate

- Salary certificate

- letter from your sponsor - No objection to bring your wife

- Fill the forms

- passports copy

- House contract

once you apply for and got the approval you can change the tourist visa into a visit visa by paying a 500 QR , and to pay of course all the penalties .

if you don't guarantee to get all the papers soon , better to go out and enter again .

i just paid 6100 QR for my wife penalties last week .
