Highly unlikely for someone born in Qatar to have HIV.

First off all I would like to say I respect how most of the QL members are responding in this thread.

It’s in your friend’s best interest to get tested and find out his status. If he is worried about the authorities finding out he has requested the test or he may test positive, have him get the test done in another country. At least he would know what course of action to take. Not knowing is worst. I know that there is talk about having to take another medical for visa or RP renewals in the GCC.

having HIV transmitted through operation in this day and age is very low, unless you have operation done illegally! Either way - if your friend is concerned, he MUST get tested for many reasons like: 1. he needs to make sure he doesn't infect others! (he doesn't have to tell people, but has to be responsible and avoid situations where he/she could potentially affect others) 2. his infection MUST be managed

Why doesn't he/she get tested outside of Qatar if he/she is concerned that they will (and believe me - your friend would be deported) have to leave Qatar.

..being the HIV proficient, i would suggest to have your friend tested for CONFIRMATORY. that test result reported by clinics were only just a SCREENING test and sometimes gives false-positive report (because screening test is done thru HIV kits only). thats why, tell him to do the confirmatory test and i know they will ask him for a consent letter from the patient. I encountered a lot of cases like this. Dont be afraid, everything will be ok.

infected through surgery is not NIL.

But I suggest that you asked your friend to take an HIV test for confirmation. Knowing it will give him and the authorities proper way to contain the possibility of spreading it more. How your friend got it (if ever it's positive) is the least of the problem, what is important is dealing with it.

I don't think HIV is transmissible by a surgery in the middle east at any chance, coz, if the patient have to receive blood due to an un-avoided situation, the blood is being taken from the blood bank. In the middle east, the blood stored with blood bank is tested and certified for any transmissible diseases like HIV, Hepatitis A, B and C and other contingent transmissible diseases.

So your statement is not believable.

My advise, don't ever suck or lick if you are not 100% sure about the partner. Always use condom if you are committing an illegal adultery.

No doubt about that.. Since he/you have to get continuous treatment, and once the health authority comes across his/your file, definitely he will be sent out of the country and probably his friends, especially the girls may be asked to have a test as well by the Authority or the medical team.

Whether its you or your friend and if the test is positive, have a maximum of 10yrs in your basket.
