Housewife to work, is it legal?

Hi guys! I'm planning to join my husband in a few months, meaning, i will be on a "husband visa". Question: is it legal for me to find work under my husband's sponsorship? We've lived in Bahrain for 3 years and as a housewife, im not allowed to work though some do it discreetly. If one gets caught, you'll be penalized and finally deported.

Is it the same in Qatar? There are some people who told me that a housewife working is totally ok. But does OK mean tolerated (but still illegal) or OK because it is legal (will not be deported)..

Thanks

It is perfectly legal house wife working in Qatar while still staying under husband's sponsorship. First you need husbands permission and later (for only good job, i.e Bank) you need labour departments permission. Normally labour department rejects on Qatarizition ground.

I used to work like that, under my husband's sponsorship, but we didn't fill up any paper or anything, so basically that was illegal, still nobody cared. In my new company I'm still under my husband's sponsorship, but they are arranging legal papers for me, because they are more strict in this matter now as I heard. Still, you can arrange for yourself as well, and of course you need your husband's permission.

Hi,

I am here under my husbands visa - its called a family visa and I am legally allowed to work here so I don't see that it should be any different for you. It is actually much easier for us as our husbands cannot change jobs without a release from there company but we can change jobs without any sort of restrictions.

Hope you like it here.

You must have your husband's official permission but yes, you can work.
