I received my work visa just last week after a month of waiting for it. Unfortunately, there was an error in the birthdate so I brought this up to the company who hired me. They acknowledged it and assured me to send the ammended one as soon as it would be available. Now, I just want to know how long does it take to get it corrected and where it is done, in Qatar or country of the applicant.

it's being amended and done by the country who granted you the visa. In this case - Qatar.
