Is invalid visa considered also considered as cancelled?

I resigned from my job 3 years ago while working outside Qatar. Upon resignation, my sponsor requested me to go back to Doha so he can cancel my residence visa. I declined since my visa will be considered invalid after working 6 months outside Qatar. Now I am back in Doha thru business visa and a company is interested to hire me. I am quite concerned that the invalidity my previous residence visa last 3 years ago would lessen my chances to be issued a residence visa from my new company. I checked the MOI site but there is no more record of it. Is the invalidity of being 6 months outside Qatar also considered as cancellation of residence visa?
