Is it necessary to cancel the RP so a new RP can be issued after 2 years ban?

I was outside Qatar when I resigned from my previous company last 2006. My previous sponsor told me I dont need to go back to Doha to cancel my RP as 6 months outside Qatar can be considered canceled visa. I am now in Doha and my new company told me that my previous RP should be canceled even if I was 3 and a half years out of Qatar. Is it necessary to cancel the RP so a new RP can be issued after the 2 years labor ban? My previous RP number does not exist anymore at www.moi.gov.qa. Does this mean it is already canceled?

Staying out of Qatar for 6 months is ok, but as per books and as per rules and keeping in mind the sponsorors benefit, its always good to cancel your RP then leave the country so you would not have any trouble once you are back here.

However, there are ways to work this out too. Contact your new company Mundoob (the person who will do all the RP/ Visa related works) and work out a solution for this, if you had a good relations with your Ex-employer please try to get an NOC from him too, this would make things better.

All the Best!
