Is it possible to stay in Qatar for several days after the residence permit has been canceled?

A friend of mine is about to immigrate to Canada but he has to send his passport with a canceled Qatar residence permit to the the canadian embassy for the final stamping of visa. Its like a pre-requisite for him to get the canadian visa.

Silly as it may seem, can he still stay in doha for several days after his RP has been canceled?and for how long can he stay? He tried asking Qatar immigration office but the people there were of no help at all.

upto 7 days after the date of cancellation.

Maximum 1 week without paying any fine.

yeah sure, provided you pay the fine per day 500 QR per person. So if he has a lot of money to spend and his company is willing to facilitate it...why not go back to his/your home country. Its not the fault of the Canadian consulate.
