Malaysian Looking for an answer - Residence Visa as Hsewife

Hi All,

We are new to QL, and need some help on our residence visas.

Both myself & hubby have received a job offer from one company in oil n gas field. What will happen if in my residence visa stated my profession as housewife, and indeed I also receive a job offer as an engineer. Can I still work if that's the case. Is it legal? It's not a problem for my hubby as he got the right profession in the residence visa.

I post the question to the company and still awaiting for an answer. Perhaps anyone in QL could help.

I think this is very normal. the only thing the company does not want to give you housing and other allowance because its already cover in your husband offer letter. this is very normal in gulf.

The same appies to doctors if both husband and wife are docs then only one will be provided with the facilities and other will be reciving only the basic salary.

i know this case in saudi not much aware about qatar regulations.

if you are a housewife / under husband sponsorship and working full time, you will have to apply for labour card. Do double check again with your employer.

It is no problem at all if you give it to a Mandoop. But it will be a hell if you are going to do it by yourself. I know one mandoop who do this for a fee. he is real fast.

BTW - Which part of M'sia you are from. I have been to some places in Malaysia and my previousSec. also from Malaysia. her Husband is working for Gamuda.

Check whether you have a clause saying "either party may give each other one month notice and terminate the contract".

If yes, you can resign anytime giving one month notice. Employers normally include this to get rid of Employees at their will. They don't know Employees also can take advantage of this clause.

charansoi:

how difficult is it if we have to arrange it ourselves?

sorry for asking too many questions, I am just so shocked with the visa...we both flew from malaysia for the job interview and got the offer from the same company...that's why i wonder why they treated me differently like this....

If you are staying with your hubby it is advisable to be on HW status.

because being on other sponsorship to stay with your husband is not legal.

Profession as housewife means your visa status is family visa, you will be on your hubby's sponsership not the company.

On houswife status also you can work leagaly after taking approval from the labour dept.
