Visit Visas
People working in Qatar can sponsor family and relatives for a period of up to six months. (The initial stay is for one month, and this can be renewed up to a total of six months.) Wives and children can come for up to a year.

I Read this topic in the following link: http://www.qatarvisitor.com/index.php?cID=413&pID=978#ixzz1JCNrtwcj

Is is sure that visit visa can be renew for upto 1 year for wives and children? Before I had heard max. limit is 6 months. Please clarify.

In special case after 6 months if you meet the higher officer he can grant for one week to 10 days only and if you go again depends on his mood he can grant for another one week not one month directly. And every time you extend for one week you have to pay the fee for one month. Visit visa can not be extent to one year. once you exit you can not apply again for another 3 months.

Family Visit Visa, is Extend-able to 6 months, and after that too, you can extend it for 1 more month, in total for 7 months...

The rest as Smoke said, if you apply for RP then it would be renewed every year...

The one year thing is the RP which is renewable every year.
