minimum valid time for passport to issue visa-pls help urgently

My indian passport expires on 10.03.2009. I hope to reach qatar by october. As per the pro of my company, my visa application is already submitted. it seems to be a block visa for about 50 people. I heard that minimum six months validity is required for passport for issuing VISA. If that is the case I may have to renew it because on 9th september onwards my passport will not have six month validity. Some others told 14 days of validity is enough for issuing Visa. Which is correct? I expects your kind replys urgently so that I can submit application for renew of passport if it requires. As you all know it will take much time for this renewel. Please help

Usually most visas requires at least 6 months passport validity. So it must not be much different here though. But since you have time till Sept 9th, why can't you renew your passport or extend it from the passport office. It doesn't take much time. Hardly a few days.
